winery of the month | adelsheim vineyard

wine:

2022 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir $12 BTG $40 BTL

Widely considered a fickle and troublesome variety, Pinot noir is our chosen soul mate. No other red grape can so clearly translate the vintage, the soils, and the way it was handled quite like Pinot noir. In both the vineyard and the winery we take great care to ensure that its expression remains true to its nature—never forced and always in keeping with what the vineyard has to say. Our approach is intentionally non-recipe-driven. Rather, we prefer to be responsive to vintage and leverage our years of experience, letting intuition and taste guide the way.

2021 Willamette Valley Chardonnay $12 BTG $40 BTL

The nose of this wine is fragrant and effusive, redolent of honeysuckle and jasmine blossoms, juicy apricots, lime zest, and white peaches. On the palate, it smacks of freshness yet has the textural weight to make you think twice. It is entirely vibrant and will pair well with whatever you’re eating.

ABOUT adelsheim Vineyards:

Luck, fate, and a single-minded determination to make world-class wine in Oregon led David and Ginny Adelsheim to purchase their first 19 acres just outside Newberg, Oregon in 1971. Drawn to the uniqueness of the land and its proximity to Portland, it was here they decided to stake their claim, plant their first rows of Pinot noir along Quarter Mile Lane, and establish what would become the Chehalem Mountains’ first-ever winery in 1978—Adelsheim.

Since 1971, we have obsessively pursued benchmark wines that celebrate the unique bounty of our estate vineyards -- home to some of Oregon’s most diverse soil types, elevations, and exposures. As a founding winery of the Willamette Valley and Chehalem Mountains’ first winery, Adelsheim has played an instrumental role in nearly every aspect of the Oregon wine story. As leaders, we believe it is our duty to be steadfast stewards of this abundant land and to rally our community in support of equity and education. Adelsheim is a LIVE certified sustainable winery and a seven-time Wine & Spirits Top 100 Winery. We invite you to visit us to experience for yourself the wild, magic bounty of Oregon and the Chehalem Mountains.
